Travel packing essentials

I wholeheartedly agree.

I may have regretted clothes, shoe, jewellry purchases but I have never had one about any of my travels.

Even some of those trips I may not necessarily want to revisit literally and figuratively.

I am writing this completely jet-lagged in Bangkok.

My iPad isn't cutting it so am in the hotel lobby at 3 in the morning and let me tell you - you want to do some people watching and possible blackmailing, this is the place to be.
Pity I don't know these people because I would have lots of rope.
Anyway…

I needed a break. For lots of reasons I won't bore you with right now but the British winter has been more brutal than normal.

I thought enough was enough.
I told the winter that I was leaving it for awhile and
we had to reconsider our relationship.
Then like any dysfunctional relationship, it decided it would be all sun ray shining and balmy the day I left.
Argh!

I was hearing a lady on the flight sharing her travel essentials so I thought I would share with you my essentials for travels too.

This is the beauty section.
Pure Papaya Ointment - like Lucas Paw Paw but without the mineral oil.

Z Gel - this is a household must.  It is homoepathic remedy with arnica and Bach Flower remedies.  It is a panacea for most things.

Biafine - best thing for possible sunburn and wounds.

Homeostick - general moisturizer in stick form but best for around eyes and lips.

Decleor eye gel and Weleda Wild Rose Mask - for the flight, landing, and life in general.

Pain killers may seem obvious but hotels nowadays won't offer it and usually pains come at night when things are shut or you are too sick or in pain to go on a quest to find a pill.  A lot of people owe me favours for having brought a pack of Nurofen and alleiviating pain...

Rescue night remedies may be psychosomatic but I like a harmless crutch.

Antihistamines also a must because the weirdest things can cause an allergy and I am going to places I have never been before…

Remember MacGyver?

This is my ode to him.

My Victorinox Swiss card lite.

I feel so confident walking around with this.
Size of a credit card but look what it can do.

Pen, tweezers, different set of screws, scissors, file, red light, magnifying glass, and ruler.

Also, I remember to photocopy my passport and all my credit cards and email them to myself.
That way I can access fairly easily.

From past experience, if you lose your credit card and you ring from abroad and they ask you to punch in your 16 digit numbers and if you don't know it then you have to hang on at least ten minutes for an operator.  This just saves time and stress.

But I didn't get carried away with packing.

At the end of the day, I got my tickets, my cards, and my passport.

I will still be posting and trying to update you on my travels.
Mind you I will be at the mercy of travel goblins so please bear with me if I can not post and am a bit sparse.I hope I see things that I want to share with you all.
Wish me luck! x

  4. I have to know what was going on in that lobby mini MacGyver!! Do tell! Living vicariously through you right now, although it is sunny & lovely here, I am in the pick up lane at school as I write this comment & you, my dear, are in an exotic land traversing unknown territory ( well at least unknown to me ). Enjoy all the sights, sounds, foods & local delights and report all you can in your soon to be famous blog.

  5. Well, let's just say that if we accidentally picked up each other's hand luggage, we'd be pretty happy! I agree, travel is probably my biggest expenditure every year. I've been to Rome and Amsterdam so far this year ( I live on a tiny island, so would be sectioned if I couldn't get off it). Enjoy your trip and make the most of it!

  10. Wow! I am so impressed by your packing. I travel innocently abroad with little more than rehydration salts and strong painkillers - I am going to have to up my game.
I use Weleda's wild rose smoothing day cream, their brand is free of nasties.
We've had one day of sunshine and now it's wet and dull. You are missing nothing back here in Blighty. Next week we are promised cold and possibly snow so am going to live vicariously through your blog. Have a great time.

  17. It sounds verrrrry interesting indeed in your hotel lobby! Your packing essentials are similar to mine, although throw in a bunch of stuff for kids as well.... very hard to pack light with my entourage! Enjoy the heat - we're steaming it up here in Adelaide too, it's very Queensland like instead of our usual dry heat. I'm longing for Winter! xx

  18. Wow! I am so impressed by all the "equipment" you brought along Naomi. And you have Biafine. That's a must for travellers. You are even better equipped than McGyver ;-)
Have a fun trip. May I recommend one spot to visit (North of Thailand)? Sukotai: huge and impressive Buddhas in the middle of nowhere. I am telling you... once you have seen these statues, you are in love forever with Buddha!!!
