Met ball 2018

Divorce her from Carrie.
She is someone who would never be your friend in real life ok?

She is thin.
But she still looks like crap.

Madonna!
OMG she is looking so amazeballs.
Oh...There is Madonna over there.
Don't you dare say anything about JPG and Madonna
because they are one of the folks that harks me back to the 90's when an intern giving the president a blow job was a huge deal and we were shook.

Good times.

But if there is no harking back to the haylcon 90's then
the designer and the muse thing got old
after Yves Saint Laurent did it with his muses until the 70's.

Doesn't Karlie Kloss have loads of friends?
Don't trust people like that.

This couple would be considered really alternative in their prom in Kansas but in New York, you are just another rich bitch with her gay financially subsidised friend.

Please tell them this didn't work out for the Beckhams in the 90's either.

Such a self aware - we are so in love - aren't you jealous?
But they are just so damn happy they didn't have to figure out what to eat for dinner.

Past it?
Bitch please.
Your husband, boyfriend, and sister would still leave you for me.

New York is rough because you turn heads anywhere else but you are considered too fat in Manhattan and not one guy looks at you.
Spare me the outrage.
I ain't the New York Times.

Too easy.

How will this be explained in anthropology class in the year 2418?

When you doing yoga moves Level 23 after a month in an ashram.
When the enlightened guru does standing pose.

Another case of mistaken identity.
I thought the girl with wings
was the one below.

I can't tell if this is actually Solange
or an ode to the siblings of celebrities episode in
RuPaul's Drag Race.

Does anyone else think that if Irina Shayk wasn't doing her second beard gig with Bradley Cooper that George Clooney would have snapped her right up?

So boring when you are the 30th lady with a crown and a 30 foot train.

Anna is officially uncool.
How thirsty is she that her daughter become the liberal version of Ivanka?

Don't know who she is but she looks like Pete Burns.

Game of thrones extras wardrobe.

Met Ball for all the others - just another Sunday night for KK.
She really didn't make an effort did she.

Star of the night but don't know her name.

  1. Hello Naomi, You are now officially qualified to edit your own fashion magazine and make millions--I have no idea who any of these people are, or why we are discussing them! I saw another blog apparently about the same subject, and I am so out of it that the other post didn't even seem written in English to me!

    1. I am so past it that I didn't know who the last girl was and I didn't even bother googling because she will be past it by the time i know it. I think now the met museum is a forced event made up by publicists. But it says so much about pop culture that it is hard to ignore for me :)

    2. She's Priyanka Chopra (read her Wiki, you'll be exhausted by the end) and you'll probably see her going into St. George's Chapel, Windsor on the 19th!๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. Yup, I'm done too. You can stick a fork in The Lioness in Wintour.

  5. Such a great post. I think Anna is out, I really do. And I have heard this spectacle costs more and more every year to produce and yet is taking in less money. I hope this year's version is the last rendition of its kind because everybody looked like clowns. I never thought I would say this in a million years but I actually think Kim looked the best last night. She looked absolutely true to herself, everyone else seemed like they were in stupid Joan of Arc or Virgin Mary (brought to you by Dolce & Gabbana) costumes. Kim's molten golden column seemed exactly like something she would wear at any gala, even with the cross included. I have never seen so much makeup on one person though, my God. xx

    1. I think Anna is still reeling bc Hillary promised her the ambassadorship to the UK. Anna would have loved it and basically she is still pushing her agenda / daughter ;) yes oddly Kim did look good bc she didn't do anything nuts - it was quite a farcical night. but yes to all that contouring LOL xx

  6. God what a mess! This ball really says everything about the world we are living in. It's a total joke. In the name of charity, people dress like fools and parade around like peacocks in clothes and jewels that cost more than some people make in a lifetime. This is the worst case of the emperor's new clothes, with people fawning over these ugly ensembles and the crazy addition of the Catholic vestments and crosses. I think this is a farce! Times are changing and this is the wealthy and entitled celebrating each other. Who wants to read about this, see this, and God forbid by a special edition of Vogue celebrating it? Barf. Yay on you Naomi for calling it out for what it is. xx Kim

    1. It is so funny now - but they don't want us to laugh they want us to worship ( literally in this case?) I am glad it is turning out like his so people realise it is full of crock and there is nothing to dream about this illusion to be frank xx

    1. Is this thing on TV in the states???? Holy moly - the Met should be known for its art more - sad that a section of the people equate it with costume balls xx

  8. I love this post. An honest opinion for once, instead of the countless fawning reviews. Many of these people looked ridiculous and it cost a fortune. I read that some of these dresses cost 45,000. Maybe they should take the money and the time that was spent of these outfits and donate it to a better cause.

    1. Yes some of the dresses cost probably a bit more - I think they were being conservative just for outlast reasons - not to mention cost of stylists etc. This is just a nice occasion for stylists and PR to be busy and justify some fee. Thanks Elizabeth!
