Are You A Fashion Victim Quiz - Part 1

In this forever changing fashion fangled world where there are no demarcations of fashion seasons nor dogmatic trends, one would think that fashion victims are slowly going the way of the dodo and becoming extinct.

But the turban is still a fashion fragile item to be handled with care otherwise you could be a fashion victim.

Want to take a quick quiz like the ones you used to do in magazines when you were a teenager?

Well you are in luck as I made a very rough one for you to take.
 Ready?

Are you a wearing a turban for religious reasons?
Via

Are you wearing one for cultural reasons?
Via

Are you Sophia Loren playing a part in a movie?
Via
Or are you a Vegas showgirl pretending to be like Sophia Loren in a turban?
Via

Did you just get out of the shower?
Via

Are you an Ottoman sultan?
Via

Are you the girl in the famous Vermeer painting?
Via

Are you a ballerina in a Diaghilev Ballets Russes production?
Via

Are you a celebrity going incognito like Grace Kelly was when she wanted to play civilian?
Via

Are you trying to fade into the background because
you vant to be alone.
Via

Are/were you the editor of Vogue?
Via

Are/were you on the cover of Vogue?
Via

Are you part of a cult and/or a fashion intern told that ponytails are barred within a 100 meters of Kaiser Karl?

Via

Is the turban you are wearing a vintage piece from one of the first collections of Yves Saint Laurent?
Via

Are you the incredibly beautiful,
Via
statuesque,
Via
poised,
stylish,
Via
head turning
The Spanish princess confused that an older woman who weighs more than her can be so stunning.
Via
bombshell that is the Sheikah Mozah of Qatar?
She makes Carla Bruni like KMid during her St Andrews days.
Via
If you answered no to at least three of these questions then commiserations...
because that means you are a fashion victim.

But you know that those quizzes in those magazines meant as much as this one did so don't you worry your pretty turbaned head over it.

PS I am making an exception for the Vintage Contessa :)
You're just having fun!

  1. Oh what fun images you've collected here. I'm guilty on only one front--getting out of the shower and my turban is a must! I do agree that only a rare few can pull off this look. My vibe is more a wide headscarf when I'm feeling very Amalfi Coast like. Dreaming of summer vacation I suppose.
    Have a great week!

    1. Headscarf and a turban are rather different! I think if you wear a turban so consciously to make a statement then the message never comes across as intended! Xx

  2. Can you imagine if we all could pull off the turban. No more bad hair days! I shall stick with my ball cap for the time. Next, please do the wide leg crop pant...show me some one, any one, that looks remotely dignified in a pair of those.

    1. Agree with BB how about the wide leg cropped pant a la Bernenstain Bears! They wear them best.

    2. Will start googling and searching Pinterest BB! I'm sure there are people who wish I'd wear a hat but I have lost all pride ;p

  4. I so want to adopt the turban and incorporate it into my daily look but I really want to be about 90 before I do this. Then I'm going for it. I think Grace made turbans look so cool and boy did she have the face for them! xx

    1. Think that's the secret. You need a good face. Or else, if you're like me, keep them for apres shower and never appear in public in one. Would happily take the diamond (?) brooch from the man's white turban though.
Ps Wondering what comes next in the fashion victim stakes.

    2. Yes she had the face for anything! Although you need a certain internal feeling like of course I'm wearing a turban otherwise it doesn't work. Tut snd would save on hair cuts though Jill x

  6. Have not succumbed to the turban and funnily enough even when mum had no hair due to Cancer treatment she wouldn't have a bar of them. Preferred a hat.
I am fond of a turban towel though. xx

    1. I do know they say hats are better BC my friend wanted a turban but the nurses said to let your head breathe more. I have a specific turban towel and it does feel nice xx

  7. It's true how stunning is Sheikah Mozah! Laughing at your picture captions here. She really does dominate every photo.
I've never worn a turban but I'm sure if I did I'd look like Tweetie Bird. XO

    2. I love them on women...or the women with the self possession to dare.
On men, it is helpful in silently announcing you are in the presence of a Douchebag.

    3. Yes I like the ones who really mean it but for those who do to impress fall flat!

Dani I see you more as a really wide brim or coiffed head piece x

  8. I love turbans. I would embrace them wholeheartedly if given the chance. Well I had the chance, but that's another story.
In my opinion, turbans are beyond rules. If one has to question whether he or she is fabulous enough to wear a turban for looks, one has neither the right attitude or sense of self grandeur. Which I don't mean as an insult.

    1. Oh that is right and there are a chosen few men who could make it work...a Yul Brynnner, Adam Ant, or Lenny Kravitz and then a Mickey Rourke who convincingly fits into the douchebag slot.

Naomi was quite right to distinguish the far more stylish and sophisticated Turban from do-rag/headscarf which enjoyed a d-bag wanna-b-edgy...and-hide-receding-hairline vogue late last century with Hulk Hogan leading the pathetic charge.

    2. Yes turbans to fashion is asking the price in a jewelry store - means it's too much for you.

  10. Sheikah Mozah certainly rocks the turban. Nope, never tried one myself and never will. I simply don't have the confidence even on a bad hair day (which is more and more frequent in my dotage). Perhaps The Drumpf would benefit from one of these.

  11. Considering how my once-luxurious locks have become blah with age, I think I'm going to follow the Contessa's lead and try a turban. Why not? Hats blow off. A turban or a really great headscarf could be fun.
