My Ladylike Clothing Staple for How I Wear My

Regular readers know that I don't know OOTD ( outfit of the day) because I am a bore and I dress even more boringly.
A side note is that my weight fluctuates
like Oprah's during the 80's
so I am limited in that I refuse to invest in bigger size clothing
yet can't fit into half of my wardrobe.

I enjoy other's outfit posts however.

So in the spirit of not being a voyeur and to participate a bit more,
I submitted a picture to
Jill's blog, Everything Just So in her monthly themed round up

This is one of my favourite items of clothing that I rely on certain occasions and I can't believe I nearly said no to this when my mother got it for me for Christmas nearly a decade ago.
( I wanted a holiday hotel credit but she thought that was crazy.)

So click here for my reliable coat dress.

After you see the terrible lighting and the hapless pose you will understand why I don't do these more often!
Thanks for including me in the How I Wear My monthly edition!

  2. Naomi, So glad to see you, but I wish you included a whole picture of your darling self. Lovely coat dress. Don't you just love things like your Chanel that get better over time? What a beautiful piece. xo Kim

    1. Maybe one day but many won't think I am that darling hehe. It does age so beautifully and even after nearly a decade, it still works and still looks fresh ( fabric wise at least!) xx

  3. Well, you do look ladylike, indeed, but you always do, at least when we've met you do! I once owned a petrol blue coat dress that I wish I still had. Alas, it got left behind when I moved to California and regret it dearly. Yours is the bees knees!

  4. Oh wow Naomi, thank you so much for linking to the post! I love that coat dress of yours and I was thrilled you joined us this month. Hooray for Chanel! Seeing that piece and knowing you have owned it for 10 years makes me want to investigate getting a Chanel jacket or cardigan (probably secondhand). Also, I know you are beautiful, I am totally convinced of it, but I understand not wanting to do full shot photography. Oh do I! You are welcome to join us anytime. xx

  5. Love that coat dress Naomi! How smart is your mother to buy that for you and say no-no to the hotel credit.
I love a coat dress, so comfortable and a black one would be very useful because you could wear so many different dresses underneath. Love the How I Wear My series too which I've not read before.

    1. A coat dress hides without looking like a poncho. I didn't think I would get as much wear as I did out of it. I have since been on the look for more coat dresses but I like them really simple and they are hard to find. I loved how i wear my series and glad you liked it too - enjoying vicariously your trip too Dani! xx

  6. I can't believe you were going to say no to that?! Travel is great, but that coat is definitely for life. It's funny too how often it's the unexpected purchase with not a lot of thought that actually becomes the wardrobe staple... and that the opposite can also hold true. I have things I've bought thinking that they are staples, and then they lie unloved in my wadrobe

    1. I had stopped my cafe that year so thought I didn't clothes anymore! But so true bc if i buy something thinking it will be a staple just because it is black it rarely works out that way. x

  7. The Chanel is quite nice and with that denim dress of recent vintage you always have a good option.

    1. Yes but the question is what is a real classic bc i try and buy real classics but they don't tend to actually be one at times!

  10. Wow. Beautiful. Your mum did well. Mum's always know best ( that's what I tell the kids anyway!). Also you must have a slim foot not be a clobber hopper as those shoes don't cater for the broad feet of the world. Den xx
