Instagramy Post November 2013 Part 2

The London weather has been pitch perfect autumn lately.
Went for a walk by the Thames on the full moon.
Depending on the light,
London can be so moody and dare I say that overused word - Dickensian.
Not everyone believes in orbs but pretty spooky that there are so many on the bank of the Thames.
I think we all have our theories on them.

I was taking my brother's new cockapoo, Millie, for a walk.
All new creatures to the world seem gifted with cuteness so
they get taken care of.
Biology working its magic.
She is still scared of the world so the walk wasn't as smooth
so tried again the next morning.
Tides were up so couldn't walk right next to the river.
How beautiful is the city in the cold bright light?

I guess I have no excuse not to grow more plants if this bargeman manages to cultivate greenery.
The Thames Path got voted one of the best walks in the world.
I second that notion.
Millie was not so convinced.

She likes to cuddle up with her toys indoors.

As much as I miss my house,
I have really begun to feel at home in my new area.
The views are fabulous and so are the sunsets.

Do you match your porcelain to your wallpaper?
Breakfast out all the time is getting a bit old though...

Tis the season to be shopping.
The lights on Regent Street.

There was the usual expected hysteria about the latest H & M collaboration with Isabel Marant.
If you want to buy anything from her collection -
forget the stores - hit ebay.
You can buy it for at least double the price.
Becoming a real con these designer knock offs.

Did my usual walk by the Charlotte Olympia store in Mayfair.
Loved Archie.
So did Betty and Veronica.
He was the biggest cad ever.
So over him now.
Walk away with these heels people.

I am also over the kitty flats that the store rang me to tell me
I could buy if I wanted after waiting for 4 months.
The store window at Selfridges had them on show.

They also had the same clutch that Faux Fuschia has but injected it with steroids and added a tassle.
To get the proper scale of it...

Asprey always has a nice window but I have only ever seen one customer inside the shop.
They must get huge tax breaks.

How do you like your Christmas tree?
Well done like this tree in Whiteley's or ...

Or al dente like the one at Carluccio's?

  1. London does have some scenic views. It's cold now , to be expected, I guess. I like traditional looking Christmas trees,( not too garish, but tasteful), although I've never had a 'real' one. but I got some really nice dresses from H&M last year, so planned to take a trip soon enough.. Nice pics.

    1. Yes it does - I always forget how much I like walking by the Thames - it often gets overlooked! You were lucky to be quick enough to get anything at H&M - it seems unless you queue up at 4 am you won't get anything...

    1. The shopping is professional in HK isn't it? They know their stuff there for sure. The London girls queued at 4 in the cold in their mini skirts and tights to to wear it once and then flog on ebay. I don't even bother with it anymore. Yes the tree at Whiteley was up and there is the elf hut as well. I adore the dog. Yes I will always keep you in mind when posting these instagram ones xxx

  4. Glad you passed on the cat shoes. I imagine Millie would not have cared for them. I am NOT showing my girls your pasta tree as they will want one. I LOVED walking the Thames when I lived in London town! Thanks for taking us along. Hey, I have a tasteful $600 Visa give away going on right now…in case you still do want the shoes…Come on by! xx

  6. Thanks again for the tour. I don´t need to go anywhere. I´ll just visit your blog.
Isabel Marant for H & M ? Really? Those clothes must be cheapy cheap ; ).
I like a real, symmetrical Xmas tree decorated tastefully, but it may stay in the house max. 3 days.

  8. The light looks beautiful in London and what a cute dog. It would be so fun to see the Christmas windows, pretty please go by Brora for me and take a pic! I'd get very tired of eating breakfast out every day, how's your reno? Are they sticking to schedule?

  9. Walking along the Thames is something I enjoy and I like the way the views change with the light and the seasons. This time of year is always so special in London and I'm looking forward to seeing the Christmas windows very soon! The tree at Carluccio's is so clever and effective.

    1. Yes the Thames particuarly at night is so moody...Carluccio's should do a bigger tree because it was so clever and would sell loads of pasta!

  10. I can't remember the last time I went for a nice, leisurely stroll - tut tut! I do miss Regent Street and all the other surrounding London shopping streets at Christmas. I keep seeing fabulous images on Twitter and Instagram which are making me all nostalgic. I think a trip to London is definitely well overdue! xx

    1. You must come down because there really are so many lights on so many different streets!! Although London would lick its lips with you coming down - only bring one credit card dar ;p xx

    1. I loved them too but only in my early twenties did I realize he was just playing them all! Yes I agree those shoes weren't the best and they were a 1000 bucks to boot!

  12. I used to walk along the Thames every morning from Pimlico to Chelsea Harbour. Loved it, would love one of those little houseboat/ barges on the river.
The YSL handbag is hilarious. I do love a tassel though.
I too am sick of the "designers for"... it's just all getting a bit much. The quality is still crap, so yes, it's cheap but it's definitely not the same as the real deal. The Outnet's collaboration with Oscar de la Renta was a bit different (comparing between real Oscar and Outnet's Oscar they were identical).
I get the sense you're feeling like your equilibrium is a bit out of whack with the semi homelessness. My husband has felt the same. It is gradually improving, and I'm glad you're feeling more familiar with your new area. Hang in there.
    Dog is v. cute xx

    1. Oh Heidi - I am having an existential crisis about all this...I must say you might also sense that I kinda don't care anymore about the details which is terrible but all of a sudden it just doesn't matter - as long as its waterproof and insulated.

But yes the collaborations just seem like a con now doesn't it? The very first Karl Lagerfeld one was fun but now it just feels so forced.

Those barges are now crazy prices though - the ones pictured are moored by Hammersmith bridge and they go for about £500K minimum! Any news re plans for next year by the way? xx

    2. not yet... have to bide my time and wait for the right moment to ask the in laws to babysit. So have to time it carefully to leave enough distance from the last time that they're feeling like they'd like to do it again. But it would be March.. so not far away, I do need to get organised!! xx

  13. Love all that you've captured, it feels like a wonderful visit with you. Agree with mette, I'll just visit your blog, no need to go anywhere though I'd really like to see all you've shown us. I'll be off on a trip to nowhere exotic, we'll see if the uggs see any action ... ;)

Millie is adorable but I wonder what Sulky thinks about the kitty shoes.

    1. Gosh - I wish I could take you to some exciting bits but mostly you would see inside homeware and appliance shops lately!! Ha - actually I was thinking uggs would have suited that riverwalk as the air there has an extra bite. Oh shoot - I hope Sulky doesn't act on behalf of the feline defamation league - but I do love cats tooo! :))

  14. I ventured out to a couple of our malls today to buy essentials; after half an hour I was almost at screaming point...crazy traffic, crazed people, very little prettiness to see...so it's a real treat to see your pretty scenes. And, I will take my Christmas tree al dente :) thank you. Millie is too too cute. Cockapoo otherwise known as spoodle, or not the same thing at all? My Jack has regular outings with a lovely, sweet -natured Spoodle.

    1. I must say I prefer spoodle but everyone around here refers to them as a cockapoo - but she is very sweet - I have never had a pet before so this is just lovely and destressing me! I have done my xmas shopping already - I can't bear the frenzy either!

  15. Great photos and your walking companion is lovely!

I love these shop window glimpses - so fun! We have no department stores around here so we don't get that and I miss it! No matching of wallpaper to dishes. damn - wish I had thought of that...

  16. So do you shop at the local boutiques? Do they try and put on a show? But yes I thought I have never seen matching wallpaper to plates before either...

  18. A delightful photo journey giving an engaging personal view of London. Previously I thought a "cockapoo" was not a crossbred dog but an intimate act between consenting adults so you have taught me something useful today. You incite a desire to visit my local pet shop. A serious desire.

    Loved that pasta tree!
So would like to get to London at Christmas one year.

  25. I love these Instagram posts!! I nearly choked when I saw the size of the YSL clutch - on steroids indeed! (Still can't get over them getting rid of the Y - it's just not the same!) I took a quick look at the Isabel Marant collection but it was really blah and even in the online photos, the clothes looked like they were poor quality. The breakfast looked delicious, even if it is getting tiresome to eat out all the time. Hope the house renovation is going well! Hang in there!
